Frommer's Two out of three stars
Now that Sideways has shown us all what a great big metaphor for life wine can be, come sample the possibilities off the staggering list at this quiet little refuge. Take note of their special menu of seasonal tasties and consider making a meal of it, too.
Locals and visitors in the know duck into this casual yet sophisticated wine bar just behind St. Louis Cathedral not only for its wide selection of wines by the glass or the bottle but also for its bistro cuisine. The double-cut pork chop comes in a generous 14oz. serving with a hash of sweet potato and wild boar sausage and a sweet and sour orange-pepper glaze. The bouillabaisse combines Gulf fish, mussels, shrimp and crawfish in a heady lobster broth with tarragon garlic bread for dipping. No reservations.
